In Cumulus open books of the Amsterdam Public Library pass in front of the camera showing images of clouds. Moving right to left, the books ease across the frame, each one nudged gently along by the next. Over the course of an hour the images naturally progress, pictures of mostly blue sky give way to heavy cloud cover, storm, cloud break and a return to blue skies. The clouds as still images embedded in text are reanimated into a narrative arc through the illusionary framework of video. By documenting the document, adding artifice to the artifact, 'Cumulus' is scientifically a subject matter, but whimsical in its interpretation and structure.
